Top-tier brushes, canvases, and other tools are used for their precision and ability to hold the paint and the gold well. I'm solely working with genuine 24 karat gold leaves with 99.9% pure gold. 24 karat leaf will not tarnish, on the other hand lower karat or imitation gold leaf does tarnish if it is not sealed. The lower the fine gold content, the more likely tarnish or oxidation is. To prove the gold authenticity of my artworks non of my paintings are sealed unless it's a customer request.
